1. Aging resistance
EPDM sealing strip has good weather resistance, ozone resistance, heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance, water vapor resistance, stability, electrical properties, oil filling properties, and room temperature fluidity. The EPDM sealing strip can be used at 120°C, and it can be used temporarily or intermittently at 150-200°C. Adding appropriate antioxidants can increase their temperature.
2. Corrosion resistance
EPDM sealing strip lacks [jí] resistance and a low degree of unsaturation, and is suitable for various [jí] properties of chemicals such as alcohols, alkalis, acids, oxidants, detergents, refrigerants, ketones, greases, dynamics vegetable oil, etc.
3. Water vapor resistance
EPDM sealing strip has good water vapor resistance, and it is estimated that its heat resistance is better than heat resistance. In superheated steam at 230°C, the appearance does not change after nearly 100 hours, but under the same conditions as fluoro silicone rubber, silicone rubber, butyl rubber, fluoro silicone rubber, and natural rubber, the appearance will deteriorate in a short period of time.
4. Heat resistance
EPDM sealing strip has good heat resistance, but it is closely related to all vulcanization systems. Ethylene-propylene rubber with dichloroaniline and TMTD as the vulcanization system was soaked in superheated water at 125°C for 15 months. The performance change is very small, and the volume expansion rate is only 0.3 percent.
5. Electrical properties
EPDM sealing strip has excellent electrical insulation performance and corona resistance performance, and its electrical performance is better than or close to that of styrene butadiene rubber, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, polyethylene, and cross-linked polyethylene.
7. Flexibility
There are no [jí] substituents in the molecular structure of EPDM foam sealing strip polystyrene strips, and the molecular cohesion energy is low. The molecular chain can maintain elasticity in a wide range, second only to natural [natural] flowable rubber and butadiene rubber, and it can still maintain it at low temperatures.
Disadvantages of EPDM sealing strip
Due to the lack of active groups in the molecular structure of EPDM sealing strips, the cohesive energy is low, the rubber is easy to foam, and the self-adhesiveness and mutual adhesion are poor.
